THE DISSERTATION

The Price of the Ticket: A Feminist Analysis of the 'Selling Out' Narrative in Black Culture examines how the selling out narrative operates on a deeply gendered dual track in Black culture, the Faustian Bargain for Black men and the Sacrificial Bargain for Black women. This research is grounded in Black Feminist Epistemology and evidenced across cultural texts from Claudine to Cassie, from Jay-Z's Blueprint trilogy to Megan Thee Stallion's assault
